 Browncoat Hurricane Relief fund !!!
« Thread Started on Sept 1, 2005, 4:55pm »

The New England Browncoats have just created a charity donation site for those in need after the effects of Hurricane Katrina.

All money will go directly to the American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund. The website JustGiving.com funnels all money to the charity with no middleman.

We have set up a goal of $500.00. If you want to make a donation, you can visit the donation site at http://www.justgiving.com/pfp/NEBHurricaneRelief

Be sure to tell your friends and family about this site.

If anyone wants to make an offline donation I will handle them. Just send a check payable to the American Red Cross to:

New England Browncoats
Hurricane Relief
P.O. Box 79
Swansea, MA 02777

*********************
Alternate places to donate -

The Hurricane Katrina Displaced Residents Fund, which will help residents and The Hurricane Katrina New Orleans Recovery Fund, which will focus on rebuilding infrastructure. Tax deductible donations are being accepted online at www.braf.org. Donations by check should be made out to the Baton Rouge Area Foundation and mailed or delivered to 402 N. Fourth St., Baton Rouge, La., 70802.

- Here is a list complied by USAToday for Katrina relief:

FEMA listed the following agencies as needing cash to assist hurricane victims:

•American Red Cross, 800-HELP NOW (435-7669) English, 800-257-7575 Spanish.

•Operation Blessing, 800-436-6348.

"Count me in.

I hereby officially volunteer to donate all 90% (10% covers agents' expenses) of money collected at my Dragon-Con "Walk of Fame" signing session to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.

Please come by and get a signed photo or two (or more), and know that the contribution will be given, in the name of Browncoats and FF/Serenity fans everywhere, to the specific charity this here thread deems the most effective at directly helping those in dire need.

May our hearts, prayers and assistance now go out to those suffering from the devastation of this catastrophic Hurricane.

Many Thanks to all who may read this and hope to see you at Dragon Con!

Please pass the word...

Serenity always!

A.B."

Its a tough time for all concerned. Please, if you are able then give. what ever you can. Even the smallest of donations will help.

our Thoughts and prayers go out to the many families and indeviduals affected by this terrible event.

Darren.

"The Salvation Army
Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi
Divisional Headquarters
1450 Riverside Drive
Jackson, MS 39202
Phone 601-969-7560
Fax 601-969-9077
http://www.salvationarmysouth.org/LA.htm

This will be the one to which I will send the money!

Saturday's count: $7,714.00

$7,714.00 (Saturday) + $4,000.00 (Friday's exact count was $3,974.00; to which I added $26.00) = $11,714.00.

The kindness and generosity exhibited these past 48 hours by fans of FF/Serenity and others who have joined in this effort has been one of the most profoundly heart-warming and inspirational experiences of my life.

I cannot possibly express the magnitude of my appreciation to all those who have taken the time to stop by to contribute and offer words of encouragement and sympathy for those in the disaster areas. May God bless you all.

The funds collected by yours truly will be wire-transferred first thing Monday morning in Los Angeles - unless the SA cannot, for some reason unknown to me at this time, accept such electronic transactions; in which case a cashier's check will be Fed-Exed for delivery Tuesday.

Thanks again to you all!

Your spirits surround in a most uplifting way.

Serenity always,

A.B.
(humbled by your grace)"

Thank you Adam and everyone who has contributed over the last week! This is a terrible tradgedy and is going to affect people for a long time to come. Amid the stories of looting, carjackings, and price gouging, it's great to hear about people doing good for the victims of this disaster.

Just a quick update.

Adams and the Dragon*con browncoats Grand Total: $16,206.00!!!
New England Browncoats (so far) :$3,395.00

The support Adam put into this is overwhelming. Not to mention the generosity and willingness to help of the Browncoats. Its an amazing figure, but it doesnt have to stop there. If your able, if you can spare it then please give. Its never too late. The clean up will last months, if not years. Weather your donation goes to feeding a family, medicating the sick or helping to re build homes it will all help.

Thank you for your time. Thanks to browncoats everywhere for helping the cause and thank you to mr Baldwin..

Darren

It is truly a great thing that Adam has done and the fans really showed their support as well. I know that he had quite a few just give him money to include on top of their purchases. I know we all wish there was more we could do and it is people like Adam that inspire us all to do everything we can.

Thanks again Adam! ;)
