"I tried posting this over there. Got stymied somehow so:
1. Are you looking foward to the Serenity premier?
Yep. I hope Nathan will loan me his black Utilikilt. It's dreamy. ;- )
2. how did you enjoy your time in SA filming the poseidon adventure?
It was fun. Some corridors were a little "damp" perhaps... but fun. Saw a cheetah or two.
3. we know you have a keen intrest in politics, but what else do you do to un winde when you arnt on set?
Nah... Day to day politics are boring as hell; it is the great world leaders and intellectually stimulating writers that analize their deeds, put them in historical context and the human drama that world politics is; that interests this humble inhabitant of the lower slopes of Olympus... I like to Mountain bike, and watch Family Guy.
4. What has been the most challenging role you have played to date?
"Jim" in the stage production of "Blackout." That was challenging.
5. Who is your favourite author?
Non-fiction: Thomas Sowell
Fiction: Tom Clancy
Honorable mentions: Joss Whedon and Tim Minear. :- )
6. you have worked with an endless number of extreemly talent actors through out your carear, Who has it been your bigest honour to work with?
DeNiro. Intimidating, but most kind. Liam Neeson is a true gentleman.
7. Who would you most like to work with whom you have not yet had the chance?
The Cohen Brothers.
8. Are you excited about getting your own action figure?
Heh, yeah... sculpting plastic is *way* less trouble than lifting iron. ;- )
9. If you weren't acting, what do you think you would be doing now?
Hmm, hindsight eh?... Hard to say with certainty. I would like to think that I would have enlisted in the Marines and served my country with honor had I not made the NHL. Life however, and the production of "My Bodyguard," intervened in that decision. No regrets here. :- )
10. how is work on "the inside" going?
Tim Minear is my hero! Fox has been great to us! The cast is gelling and the show looks really cool. Hope you like it.
11. will you reprise the role of Jayne in serenity/firefly if the offer was made. ie another film or tv series?
I think it is pretty well known by now that the cast has already signed up for sequels; the early B.O. returns will be very important in determining whether #s 2 & 3 get the "green light." See you all opening W/E!!! :- )
12. you hate talking about your self, so heres a question about someone else. Do you have any dirt on any of your serenity co - stars?
Yes. Especially Nate...
13. You've done sci fi, horror, drama, comedy.. would you ever do a musical?
If I didn't have to sing? Sure... does the name Rex Harrison ring a bell?
14. What would you say has been the highlight of your carear so far?
You know, there have been many: But I must say that Serenity/Firefly has been the most fun and rewarding in terms of working environment, friendships, and just a downright unique character: Jayne. Also, it is right here and right now... this movie thingy could be really, really big!
15. and how about a personal high light?
Lots of those too... but they remain personal. :- )
16. do you enjoy the interaction with fans at conventions/signings?
Very much so! Except, of course, for Pip, that is... that Pip is trouble with a capital "T" and that rhymes with "P" and that stands for "Pip." ;- )
17. do you have any other passions besides acting?
A few... Photography, would be one that I'm willing to share. Did you like my early shots from the set of Serenity?
18. you once mentioned that predator 2 was a critical move for you, can you shed any light on this subject? or is it one of those hollywood secrets that will never get leaked?
No biggie... just really broke at the time. ;- )
19. On the subject of children, if one day your kid came up to you and said " daddy, i want to be an actor" would you let em?
My rule is: If the kid can get to the audition on his/her own; who am I to say "no"?
20. and finally, Do you have any tips for people wishing to get into the acting industry?
1.) Stay in school until you are educated enough to carry on an intelligent conversation with the highly talented adults that do the hiring.
2.) Look your best. Be the best and most unique you that you can be.
3.) Be prepared for years of rejection, but don't let it discourage you; many actors do not achieve success until they have lived and struggled for decades.
4.) Always have a sideline that pays the rent.
5.) Keep reading and studying great actors' performances and incorporate their skillful examples and techniques into your own. Remember: "Good actors borrow; Great actors steal." ;- )
Thanks for askin'!
Serenity always,
A.B."
Thanks Adam
