The day all us loyal browncoats have been waiting for is finally here (well in the US anyway)! I saw the BDM this afternoon--the first showing of the day--and all I can say is WOW! Well worth the wait. Amazing job by Joss and the gang bringing the story to the big screen! There were about 50 people in the theatre which is actually pretty good since it was during work and school hours and everyone really enjoyed it. I heard one person say it was the best movie he had seen in a long time. The only negative review I've seen is from US weekly magazine which not only said it was "An entertaining but forgettable sci-fi saga" but also said Nathan Fillion "doesn't exactly have a face for movies". Guess all those people comparing him to Harrison Ford are wrong, I say sarcastically! Then again this is a magazine that puts Paris Hilton on the cover every other week so its level of intelligence is highly suspect! Adam, of course, was brilliant as Jayne, who hasn't changed--still the same lovable scondrel we know from "Firefly". I will probably go see it again Sunday since it's definitely worth a second look--and third and forth...!

Yes, indeed it has!
I just saw the movie tonight, and it was really awesome! The only word I could think of was "Monumental". This movie captures what the show did not, and thank the powers that be for letting Joss continue his story!
My mom, who never watched the show, said she enjoyed Jayne's many one-liners. Emphasis on the many. I said to her, "That's our Jayne!" I'm definitely watching it again while it's still in the 'verse!

"Serenity" has come in second at the box office with an estimated take of $10.1 million dollars over the weekend! And Ebert and Roeper gave it 2 thumbs up which will hopefully generate even more business for the movie. Not too shabby for a movie based on a tv show that only lasted 11 episodes! I hope the Fox execs who treated Joss and the show so badly are beating their heads against the wall for letting this one get away from them in favor of some reality show no one remembers or cares about!
