I took our high-functioning autistic teenage son for an autograph at Denver Starfest 2008. Often autistic kids latch onto one subject and study it endlessly. My son enjoys learning about movies. He's one of the few people that spends time with that special features DVD, watching it over and over again. He loves Serenity.
He's not overtly autistic, but his communication skills are very low, particularly with strangers. If he replies to questions at all, it's usually in a whisper. Meeting new people is very difficult.
We went Sunday morning for an autograph. Adam Baldwin was fantastic! He treated my son very well, speaking to him with respect, helping him take a nice photo together, thanking him for coming. My son was thrilled.
Thank you, Adam Baldwin. Your kindness made a kid (and his mom) very happy.

That's a wonderful story-I'm so glad that Adam was sensitive to your son. It's so easy to get wrapped up in "being busy" and trying to get through a con, that to see a celebrity take the time with someone is always gratifying.
Yet another reason to love the man! (as if we didn't already have enough reasons to love him...)

The more I read about him, the more I realize just how truly sweet Adam Baldwin is...
To take that kind of time with a kid...
Reading about that just made my day...
